One thing that I find rather interesting about Darkest Of Days is that the team behind this were newbies to the world of game development. I know this sounds like a jerk thing to say, but you can tell this. I do not mean that this is a horrible game or anything like that, but as soon as you know that this is the first game of a new team much of what the game does makes sense.
It is not a bad game by any means. But it is a rather by the numbers first person shooter kind of experience. It is not that it does anything truly bad, but it never really does anything great either. The way you can use upgraded weapons in past time periods is kind of cool, but the actual shooting mechanics can sometimes feel a little off.
The main area this is a problem is when you try to aim down sights, honestly, you are better just firing off from the hip as it is actually more accurate. I know that many people may have never heard of Darkest Of Days, but if you like first person shooters and are in the mood for one with an interesting premise.
I would say that you could do worse than what this game is offering. It lacks polish in pretty much every regard, but the game is harmless enough and playing through it is not exactly going to take you a ton of time so it is a decent enough distraction.
